My Christmas List

I finally finished my list of things I would like to get for Christmas this year. On my list I put down things such as a blender ( I love strawberry milk shakes!), a grommet tool for a banner I need to hang, a new pair of tongs because my 25cent yard sale bargains are shot, and some new duds from 2 of my favorite sites; gypsyville.com and antiquearchaeology.com. I also put down a few cds because I would really love to have Lee Brice's cd and Miranda Lambert's crazy ex-girlfriend. I have her Revolution cd and it is killer. There is not a song on that cd that I do not know by heart.
I'm getting really excited for the upcoming new year! I have tickets to take my husband and kids to see the Harlem Globetrotters on New Year's Eve. I won them off of a local radio station last week so we're pretty siked about that. I am also working on trying to get my blog recognized to the masses so I can sell some stuff. I purchased a banner to hang in my yard or on my garage, a magnet to put on my car, and some business cards to start handing out.
Well stay in and stay warm and start planning those auctions you'll be hopping after the new year. As always happy hunting for that next great piece of history.

An Auction You Will Want To See

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fXJ2a2sg7fg   The link that I have posted here is for an auction that will be taking place at the Treasure Isles Flea Market on December 28 and 29 in Monroe, Ohio. For anyone that loves crocks, quilts, coverlets, early furniture, and other primitives you will want to try and make it to this auction. The listing said that they will be taking bids at proxibid.com if you can't make it.
I really would love to go to this auction. It even takes place after Christmas so I wouldn't be wrestling with any guilt. But sadly I have to work!
I seem to have this problem a lot. I will find an absolutely amazing auction that I want to attend and then I see that they are having it in the afternoon when I have to be scrubbing toilets at work. I suppose I could use a vacation day but I should save those for family events, "come on kids lets load it up we're heading to an auction!" Auctions are not exactly their idea of a good time. My husband seems to frown upon them too.
Oh well, if anyone gets to attend this auction please think of me. I will probably be elbow deep in garbage or toilet water while your bidding your little heart out on some of my most favorite things. It would be awesome if you would leave me a comment telling me of your experiences there.
Happy hunting for that next great piece of history!

Who Doesn't Need A Set of Old Lockers?!

In May and September at the Clark County Fairgrounds in Springfield, Ohio there is a huge antique fleamarket. I always try to make it a point to go but I have to confess that I did miss the one in September this year. I did however make it to the one in May and found some pretty good stuff. This set of old military lockers is the favorite of all that I found that day.
A lady was set up inside one of the buildings that day which was probably not to her benefit because it was a beautiful day and everyone was hanging around outside. This worked to my advantage though because while she already had her stuff marked pretty cheap she was in the dealin' mood as a result of very little traffic indoors. I immediately spotted the lockers and to say the least I was intrigued. At the time I was thinking they would make a great vanity in my bathroom because I have been wanting to remodel in there, but my husband doesn't see my vision. I was looking them over when she came up and was explaining to me that it was a set of old military lockers and started showing me the government issue tags. Flags started going off in my mind because if there is anything I know is military antiques can fetch some cash from the right collector, especially with all of the identifying marks still intact. I stood back and acted as if I wasn't quite sold but inside I was screaming I have to have these! The lady started spouting out numbers but I would not bite. She finally spit out a number that was so rediculously low that I could not turn away and SOLD! was the next thing out of my mouth.
My husband and I carted these home where today they reside in my garage. I believe I may try to sell them although I really would like to see them in my bathroom. As of right now they will just have to collect dust in the garage. Happy hunting for that next great piece of history!

Auction Shopping

With the holidays approaching faster than I ever thought possible I have been browsing Auction Zip. I am checking out  all of my favorite auctioneers to see what they have lined up for the New Year so far. As of right now I haven't seen much, but with each passing day that changes. There are a few that I would love to attend next week but I'm sticking to my guns of no auctions until after Christmas.
In January I will start posting items on the blog that are available for purchase. I would do it this month but I already filed my taxes so it will have to wait until next month. I have also been thinking of a New Year's resolution. I'm leaning towards some goals for my business. I can honestly say that with absolutely no business background I am really proud of myself for making it this far. I thought I would cave under the pressures of trying to manage a business but I have done really well.
It's time to put another log on the fire, so if you are heading out bundle up because baby it's cold outside!
